My work integrates design thinking, a field that uses tools and processes from the design disciplines such as architecture, landscape architecture, interactive design and so on to solve complex systemic problems. It provides access to design skills to those who seek it. I believe design thinking helps raise the creative literacy quotient of out global society even as we seek to solve the many problems – environmental, economic, and social – that we face. I led Design Thinking @ College of Design from 2011 – 2015 a collaborative that works across sectors through outreach, teaching and research to apply design thinking in Minnesota and beyond.
Since June 2015, I am bringing design thinking and innovation to advancing equity and diversity at the University of Minnesota in my work as Assistant Vice Provost in the Office for Equity and Diversity.
